Katie’s love for film and documentaries started early when she first saw the finely dubbed Swedish film Pippi in the South Seas. She wanted to not only be Pippi, but to bring adventures and unexpected real life characters to the big screen. After several years working as an adventure guide in Costa Rica and Alaska, Katie developed her story chops on productions such as The Amazing Race. She then got her Master’s of International Affairs at Columbia University, and worked on climate change mitigation and emissions reductions projects with the United Nations and the private sector. After managing a regional mitigation program for UNDP in Panama, Katie returned to New York and to film where she soon produced a feature for National Geographic on climate change called Paris to Pittsburgh. She believes that getting to truly see the often hidden sides of people, places and stories can help us change the world.
